Fire Marshal Overview

The goal of the Fire Marshal’s Office is to reduce and prevent fire and injuries. Personnel with a variety of certifications accomplish this goal through many areas: Public Education, Fire Plan Reviews, Inspections, Code Enforcement, and Fire Investigation to assist with prosecution and conviction of arson crimes. The Office works closely with the local community groups, individuals, and other Fire Department and State organizations to create a safer environment for our residents.

The Fire Marshal’s Office also oversees the collection of information for, and manages the evacuation of residents who self-identify themselves as having special medical needs during Natural Disasters such as hurricanes. Fire Marshal staff also spends varying amounts of time on a monthly basis with various other tasks such as target hazard identification, plan reviews, Emergency Management, and assisting with Public Education Programs. All staff members stay apprised of standard changes in law, code and ordinance changes by staying active in local and state organizations.
